Stockport County have appointed former Liverpool defender Gary Ablett as their new manager.
Ablett was reserve team boss at Liverpool, but parted company with the Premier League club in May as part of a reshuffle by boss Rafa Benitez.
Former Celtic and Northern Ireland midfielder Neil Lennon had also been a leading candidate for the role.
Stockport are in the process of being taken over by a consortium headed by ex-Manchester City player Jim Melrose.
He told the club's website: "Gary has a fantastic pedigree, having enjoyed a career at the very highest level.
"He has a big reputation for the quality of his coaching at Liverpool and Everton over the last few years.
"This appointment should underline our ambition and I'm sure it will be welcomed by the players."
