McLean makes switch to Saints
St. Johnstone have signed goalkeeper Euan McLean after he was freed by Dundee United.
The former Kilmarnock and Sunderland custodian has ended his four-season stint at Tannadice by agreeing a two-year deal with the Perth outfit.
"He is at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing first team football," said Saints assistant boss Tony Docherty.
"He's hungry but knows he will have to fight hard to displace Alan Main."
And he added: "We want to have two very capable goalkeepers fighting for the one jersey and Euan fits the bill for that.
"He has a great attitude and will benefit from training with Alan who has impressed both Derek and I as a coach and leader."
McLean's capture follows the re-signing of Jody Morris.
The former Chelsea midfielder impressed after joining the Perth outfit in February and has this week signed a two-year contract.
Meanwhile, St Johnstone have confirmed that former manager Owen Coyle will bring his Burnley side to Perth for a pre-season friendly on Wednesday 23 July.
