Shrewsbury Town have extended young keeper Luke Daniels' loan from West Bromwich Albion until January.
"West Brom are happy how we've been treating Luke and how he's playing," said Town boss Paul Simpson.
"I think he's got better with each game he's played for us and hopefully he will improve even more.
"Luke is a big presence at the back, as Town fans will remember Joe Hart, an excellent keeper who's very positive and commands his box."
Daniels, 20, has advanced well at West Brom since being picked up following his release by Manchester United four summers ago. But he also highlights his grounding in the United youth system for his progress.
"I spent seven years there from the age of nine," he told BBC Radio Shropshire. "And the coaching overseen by Alex Ferguson was faultless.
"It helped make me the player I am. And, if staying at Shrewsbury can help my West Brom career, then great."
Daniels was first spotted by United playing local boys' football in his home town Bolton, before being embraced into the Old Trafford development programme.
"It was a fantastic experience," he said. "The Ferguson way was clearly passed down through all his coaching staff so you knew what to expect as you climbed the ladder."
Having been released at 16, his pedigree was sufficient to see him taken up by Gary Megson's Albion, where Adrian Boothroyd was getting the Baggies Academy off the ground.
After ending last season on loan at Mark McGhee's Motherwell, making his debut in a high-profile title-deciding game against Celtic, he has enjoyed more first-team experience since joining Shrewsbury on loan at the start of the current campaign.
"I want to be a regular starter," he added. "And being at Shrewsbury is ideal.
"There's a good squad, the club's made a good start, and hopefully I can help them continue that."
