Blades sign Stead from Sunderland
Sheffield United have signed Sunderland striker Jon Stead for an initial fee of £750,000, which could rise to £1.25m.
The 23-year-old has agreed a three-and-a-half year deal.
Stead arrived on Wearside in June 2005 after a £1.8m move from Blackburn but he scored just two goals in 39 appearances for the Black Cats.
He spent part of this season on loan at Derby and the Rams tried to sign him permanently, only to have their bid rejected by Sunderland boss Roy Keane.
Neil Warnock turned to Stead after claiming Preston striker David Nugent was "outrageously overpriced".
The Blades boss is also being linked with a move for Northern Ireland striker David Healy, whose former Leeds team-mate Matthew Kilgallon moved to Bramall Lane for £1.75m earlier this week.
