Rushden boss Hill suspended by FA

Rushden & Diamonds boss Garry Hill Rushden & Diamonds boss Garry Hill has been suspended from all football for two weeks by the Football Association, reports BBC Radio Northampton.

The punishment starts on Wednesday - and on his return to Nene Park, he will serve a 10-match touchline ban, with five games suspended for a year.

Hill had been charged following the 1-1 draw at Salisbury last month.

A touchline flare-up at the final whistle saw Hill head-butt Salisbury assistant manager Tommy Widdrington.

Widdrington was left with a broken nose, while both clubs were also charged by the FA with failing to control the conduct of their players and/or officials.

Hill attended a personal hearing of the FA's disciplinary committee on Friday morning, together with club chairman Keith Cousins, where he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Having already been fined by his club, he was also fined £500 by the FA - who added in a statement that the five matches that have been suspended can be activated in part or in full in the case of a further proven misconduct charge.

Hill said: ''Now that the hearing has taken place I wish to place on record my sincere apologies to the club and fans of Rushden & Diamonds for the distress that this has cause."
