Dillon hits out at fixture list

Reading assistant manager Kevin Dillon has described the Championship schedule as "absolutely ridiculous".

The Royals' 4-1 win at Bristol City was their fifth match in 14 days and Dillon told BBC Radio Berkshire the fixtures had taken their toll on the team.

He said: "Physically they're tired, but mentally even more so.

"At least we don't have a game until next Saturday - that's normal in any other country in the world, apart from England."

He added: "We weren't home till 3.30am after the Burnley game [on Tuesday]."

Despite having a shorter journey on Saturday, travelling down the M4 from Reading to Bristol, Dillon said even that was not a problem-free journey.

"We travelled up on the day of the game for the first time in many years and we were late.

"The coach driver got lost on the way to the stadium - we thought it was Halloween and they were winding us up.

"Liam Rosenior, who played for Bristol City for quite a long time, took us completely the wrong way and got us lost."
