Bennett angry after Reading exit
Republic of Ireland defender Alan Bennett has fired a parting shot at Reading boss Steve Coppell after being released by the Championship side.
Bennett said: "The manager reckons I have come to a full stop in terms of my progress here. I think I can give more.
"I don't think I've been given a fair chance. But he's made up his mind.
"If I have to go and prove myself elsewhere and then come back, I’ll do that. Him telling me that I've hit a dead end has motivated me even more."
Bennett added: "The most disappointing thing is that people want out and I just want to play.
"It's been made publicly clear that some people want to leave, while I’m here busting my gut to try to just play.
"I want to play and stay here, but I've just got to look forward to the future - hopefully another club will come and take me."
