Smith hopeful of Miller recovery
Rangers manager Walter Smith hopes to have striker Kenny Miller fit for next weekend's SPL game against Dundee United after his Scotland call-off.
Miller was one of three players who have withdrawn from Scotland's World Cup qualifier with Norway at Hampden.
Rangers manager Walter Smith told his club website: "He has a problem at the top of his hamstring and he has had that for a few weeks now.
"It needed an injection and it means he has to rest for five or six days."
Miller was a doubt for Scotland's last game before coming off the bench in last month's 2-1 win over Iceland, having initially suffered the problem during the 1-0 defeat in Macedonia.
Smith was hopeful that the injection would settle the problem, which had recurred during Rangers' defeat by St Mirren on Sunday.
"From our own point of view, it's something that had to be done," he said.
"But, unfortunately, it means he misses the Scotland game."
Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson also pulled out Scotland squad after being carried off at St Mirren Park following a Darren Brady challenge.
Scotland captain Barry Ferguson did not make the national squad as he has yet to return to action following injury.
