Sebo offloaded to Valenciennes

Filip Sebo in rare first-team action for Rangers Out-of-favour Rangers striker Filip Sebo has joined French outfit Valenciennes on a season-long loan.

The 23-year-old Slovakian striker has not made an appearance for the Scottish Premier League club this season.

Now he will join up with Ligue 1 outfit Valenciennes and joins their squad for Saturday's match with Sochaux.

Sebo was signed from Austria Vienna for £1.8m by previous Rangers manager Paul Le Guen but has scored just twice in 32 appearances for the Ibrox club.

And the summer signings of Jean-Claude Darcheville and Daniel Cousin cast him further down the pecking order under new manager Walter Smith.

Sebo joins Valenciennes on their return to the French top flight for the first time since 1993.

Rangers boss Smith explained that, while he was still looking to strengthen his squad, some fringe men would be leaving the club.

"Having a slightly bigger group than last year means we have to watch that we don't get frustration from the boys that are not playing," he told Rangers' website.

"So if some clubs come along for one or two of the boys then we will consider what they have to say."

Versatile defender-cum-midfielder Ian Murray has been linked with a move to Norwich City.
