Rover Andrews leaves Stark's Park

Marvin Andrews

Raith Rovers defender Marvin Andrews is to leave the club by mutual consent.

The former Rangers and Livingston stopper has recently undergone a successful operation on a troublesome cartilage problem.

However, his recovery is likely to keep him out of action for several months, meaning he would miss much of next season's Second Division campaign.

Chairman Dave Somerville told the club website: "Whatever he does in the future, he will always be a Rover."

The 32-year-old, who has won 99 caps for Trinidad and Tobago, joined the Kirkcaldy club for a second time in 2006 after being released by Rangers.

Andrews was first introduced to Scottish football when he arrived at Stark's Park in 1997.

"It is a measure of the man that he was aware of the impact this would have not only on the team in a very important season for the club but also on the overall recources available to the manager for his player budget," added Somerville.

"Marvin will be supported by the club staff in any way he feels necessary for his rehabilitation."
