Arbuckle backed to make recovery

Queen of the South forward Gary Arbuckle

Queen of the South manager Gordon Chisholm has backed forward Gary Arbuckle to make a full recovery after three operations for a broken leg.

The 24-year-old suffered the triple break during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Morton in Division One.

Chisholm said: "He's having his third operation today, so he knows it's a bad injury. Others have come back from it.

"Of course he's devastated, but he has to show strong character and I'm sure he's capable of doing that."

Arbuckle, who will miss the rest of the season, suffered the injury after scoring for Queens at Cappielow.

The former Clyde forward had just returned to the starting line-up after missing four games through injury.

"He's in good spirits despite what he's going through," Chisholm told BBC Sport.
