North End sign McEveley on loan
Preston North End have completed the signing of Derby defender Jay McEveley on a month's loan.
The 23-year-old is expected to go into the first team for Tuesday's Championship fixture against Swansea.
The Scotland international has told BBC Radio Lancashire he hopes to extend the initial deal at Deepdale.
"I would like to stay here, but that's out of my hands. I know the coaching staff, I know the way they play and I would like to stay," he said.
North End are without recognised left-backs Callum Davidson, through suspension, and Michael Hart, who suffered an ankle injury in the 3-1 defeat at local rivals Burnley.
The former Blackburn and Burnley player said: "I spoke to the manager at Derby [Paul Jewell] and told him I needed to play games.
He was happy for me to go out on loan and understood that I needed to play games.
"I'm glad that I've been given the opportunity by the gaffer here [Alan Irvine].
I'm just happy to be here and hopefully get a good run of games and help Preston."
