James delighted at PFA nomination

Portsmouth keeper David James says he is delighted to be nominated for the Professional Footballers' Association players' player of the year award.

James leads the race for the 'Golden Gloves' award after Saturday's 0-0 draw against Newcastle at Fratton Park.

Portsmouth have equalled a club record with 22 clean sheets this season.

"To be considered with the likes of Ronaldo is a tremendous feat, but the clean sheets are down to the whole team," James told BBC Radio Solent.

Pompey are four points behind Everton with four games left to play after failing to close in on the Toffees.

"Defensively again we were very good but just disappointed that we didn't win the game. But we're off to Wembley for an FA Cup final and it's a reflection of what Harry [Redknapp] has done here at Portsmouth," James added.
