Frustrated Cureton considers loan

Jamie Cureton

Striker Jamie Cureton has said he may go out on loan to find first-team football after sitting out much of Norwich's season on the bench.

The 33-year-old told BBC Radio Norfolk he was becoming disillusioned after starting just three games this season.

"It's probably been my most frustrating period in a long long time. I've been sat around for what feels like ages.

"Me and the manager spoke about maybe if it was right to go on loan possibly, though no clubs were mentioned."

He added: "It was just a chat between me and him to see if it was best for me and the club."

Cureton re-signed for Norwich from Colchester in 2007, more than a decade after leaving the Canaries as a youngster.

He scored 14 goals last season but has yet to find the net this term, and has not started a game since August.

"These are the sort of situations you don't wish for. You look at the situation and think the only way you're going to get in is if someone gets injured.

"The gaffer's understood my feelings. He was happy to have me here but if the right thing came up then we'd both look at it and go from there," he said.

Cureton was on the bench again for Norwich's 3-2 home defeat by Swansea on Saturday. Arturo Lupoli was chosen ahead of him and the Italian promptly scored the game's opening goal.
