Sampson earns new Cobblers role
Northampton Town manager John Gorman has confirmed the appointment of Ian Sampson to the role of first-team coach at Sixfields.
The former Cobblers defender had been youth team coach since hanging up his boots two years ago.
Sampson made 449 appearances for the club, the second highest in the clubs history, helping the side to two promotions during his playing career.
He joins Jim Barron in assisting Gorman for the 2006/07 season.
