Newcastle striker Mark Viduka says players have been affected by the uncertainty over the club's future - but that he is still keen to stay.
Owner Mike Ashley is trying to sell the club, while Joe Kinnear is to remain boss for the rest of the season.
"It's very unsettling," Viduka told BBC Radio Newcastle. "Like any business, if you have no leader it's difficult to get the place functioning.
"[But] I love playing for and living in Newcastle and would love to stay."
"For the past however many months it's been all over the place all the time. I think the appointment of Joe Kinnear is a good thing because we now know who is in charge for the next six months at least"
"Whatever happens with the club I like being involved and would love to to stay another year," said the 33-year-old Australian. "But I'm not thinking about that - I'm just thinking about getting back."
Viduka also called for the squad to pull together under Kinnear, who initially took charge on a short-term basis but has been asked to bring some stability until the end of the season.
"We need to get together and forget about all the distractions off the field and start to play as a team," said Viduka.
"For the past however many months it's been all over the place all the time. I think the appointment of Joe Kinnear is a good thing because we now know who is in charge for the next six months at least.
"Hopefully we can get together and start to function as a team and it will be difficult to beat us.
"I think we have the players to do it. Once we do start playing we can beat anybody."
