Blues loan keeper Krysiak to Well

Artur Krysiak at Fir Park

Motherwell have signed goalkeeper Artur Krysiak on loan from Birmingham City, extended Maros Klimpl's stay at Fir Park and are considering two trialists.

Simon Elliot, released by Fulham in the summer, and FK SIAD defender Byron Webster are both looking to impress.

Klimpl has only just returned from injury after his spell from Midtjylland was hit by injury, but he will now remain at Fir Park until the summer.

The defender impressed filling in as a holding midfielder against Inverness.

Well manager Mark McGhee said of the 28-year-old Slovakia international's display in Saturday's 3-2 win: "The great thing about him is that he can give you the option, he can play in midfield or at the back.

"It's important in a small squad that you have players with versatility."

Poland Under-19 international Krysiak, who made four appearances on loan to Gretna in the Scottish Premier League last season, replaces Gunnar Nielsen after the Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper returned south without making a first-team appearance.

The 19-year-old Krysiak, whose loan spell with York City was cut short through injury earlier in the season, is likely to be on the bench against St Mirren on Saturday.

McGhee is understood to have shown an interest in Linfield and Northern Ireland goalkeeper Alan Mannus, whose contract expires in the summer, with first choice Graeme Smith having not yet agreed a contract extension beyond the end of the season.

"We are always looking for good players," said the manager, whose search is being aided by goalkeeping coach Colin Meldrum.

"It might be that we find a better goalkeeper than Graeme Smith.

"We are always entitled as management to look to improve our team, so that's what Colin will be doing."

Meanwhile, 21-year-old former York defender Webster is being given every chance to win a contract.

"We've been training indoors and it's difficult to asses him but he will stay here a bit longer," said McGhee of the player contracted to FK SIAD Most but who is free to move following their relegation to the second tier of Czech football.

New Zealand midfielder Elliott, 34, is a free agent.

The former Los Angeles Galaxy and Columbus Crew player made 13 appearances for Fulham shortly after joining in January 2006, but he has now not played first-team football for two-and-a-half years.
