Southgate makes vow over Viduka
Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate has insisted the club is set to begin talks with Mark Viduka over a new deal.
Reports claimed the Australian striker may have to consider his future because Boro officials had not contacted him about a contract extension.
The 31-year-old's deal runs out in the summer but Southgate said: "They will be talking to Mark about an extension.
"He is a tremendous player for us and his performances are doing the talking for him."
Southgate was particularly pleased with Viduka's performance in Saturday's 2-0 win over Charlton.
"Mark put a great amount into the game and his hold-up play was terrific.
"He has given us everything - but that is the level we know he is capable of."
