Defender Ferdinand to have scan
Rio Ferdinand is to have a scan on his back injury as Manchester United seek to solve the recurring problem.
He pulled up in the warm-up prior to United's Boxing Day win at Stoke and has not played since the Club World Cup tournament in Japan last month.
The England defender had been due to play against Chelsea on Sunday but had a new spasm ahead of the league match.
So far the 30-year-old has missed United's last five games and he will now see another specialist on Monday.
606: DEBATE
"Ferdinand isn't the player he was, the defence would probably be a little better without him at the moment"
Mouth of the South
In Ferdinand's absence United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has used the 20-year-old Jonny Evans to deputise.
