Macclesfield reject Parkin offers

Macclesfield striker Jon Parkin Macclesfield have rejected two bids for 24-year-old striker Jon Parkin.

The Silkmen turned down £50,000 from Chester and an offer from Lincoln which involved a six-figure sum plus players.

"We have not invited bids for Jon and indeed hope he stays at Macc well beyond the summer," chairman Rob Bickerton told Macclesfield's website.

"But it's only fair to all parties that serious offers which meet Jon's career ambitions and our significant valuation of him should receive consideration."

On Wednesday, Chester boss Keith Curle confirmed he was interested in Parkin, 24, who scored 25 goals last season and has netted eight this term.

"We've done everything right as far as an approach is concerned and now we are waiting for an answer," City boss Keith Curle told the Chester Evening Leader.

Lincoln chairman of football Ray Trew said: "The fact we have made a substantial offer shows we are serious about bringing in quality players."

The 6ft 4in centre forward was kept out of action for the cash-strapped Moss Rose club by an knee injury until the end of October.

Curle is also keen on Peterborough defender Sagi Burton and has taken Doncaster winger Adriano Rigoglioso and Luxembourg goalkeeper Stefan Gillet on trial.
