The Football Association has rejected Liverpool's appeal against defender Philipp Degen's red card in the 3-1 defeat against Fulham on Saturday.
The 26-year-old was shown a straight red for a late challenge on Clint Dempsey and the FA upheld the decision.
Degen, who has made four appearances for the Reds this season, will now begin a three-match domestic ban.
Meanwhile, Manchester United's Fabio da Silva has had a yellow card he picked up transferred to his brother Rafael.
Fabio was booked for a foul on Jamal Campbell-Ryce during the Carling Cup tie at Barnsley last week, but the FA agreed it was a case of mistaken identity.

Liverpool also appealed against Jamie Carragher's sending off at Fulham for a foul on Bobby Zamora and the FA is yet to make a decision.
