Insua is targeting regular action

Liverpool left-back Emiliano Insua is hoping to use the busy festive period to stake his claim for a regular place in the starting eleven.

The 19-year-old Argentinean arrived from Boca Juniors in January 2007 and has made four appearances for the Reds this season.

He told BBC Radio Merseyside: "This could be my chance to play more games.

"Fabio Aurelio is carrying an injury and Andrea Dossena is injured, so now is my chance."

Insua impressed as he played the full ninety minutes in Liverpool's 1-1 draw at Arsenal on Sunday.

After also playing in the 3-1 win at Blackburn earlier this month he is keen to maintain some momentum.

"I could play maybe next week or maybe at Newcastle with passion and to do things well.

"Always I keep training hard. I keep training well. I trust in myself and I'm trying to keep going and try to play more games."
