Liverpool edge out battling Crewe
Young striker Craig Lindfield scored his debut goal for Liverpool as the Reds overcame Crewe 1-0 at Gresty Road.
New signings Fabio Aurelio and Mark Gonzalez made their first appearances for the visitors.
But it was 17-year-old Lindfield who caught the eye most when he rifled a shot into the top corner from 12 yards before being replaced by Craig Bellamy
Luke Varney almost levelled for Crewe in the second half but his goalbound effort was cleared off the line.
