Orient fail in bids for strikers
Leyton Orient manager Martin Ling missed out on signing a new striker.
He agreed a fee with Barnsley for Paul Hayes and with Torquay for Jamie Ward but both players failed to agree terms, with Ward later joining Chesterfield.
Ling told his club's website: "It's frustrating but I didn't want to bring in a lesser player for the sake of it.
"The loan window reopens next week. My target was always to replace Paul Connor with a better striker and that still applies."
