Foxes recruit Iran defender Kaebi

The Foxes claim they have beaten off competition from four unnamed Premier League clubs to sign the 21-year-old on a two-year contract from Persepolis.

"This is a very important signing," boss Martin Allen told City's website.

"The Premier League scouts have been watching, so it has been a question of getting him quietly into the country without missing out on the deal."

Kaebi, who has won 50 caps for his country, had a trial with Wolves in 2003.

"When I told Leicester were interested in me, I started checking out their history and was impressed to discover that players like Gary Lineker and Emile Heskey started their careers here," he said.

"I am determined to play well and repay the faith the club has shown in me."
