Three clubs in chase for Beckford

Jermaine Beckford

Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford is attracting interest from three unnamed clubs, BBC Radio Leeds understands.

The 25-year-old, who scored 34 goals last season, was put on the transfer list at Elland Road after rejecting a new contract.

But, despite the interest, Leeds are yet to receive a suitable bid for Beckford, who has a year left on his current deal.

Beckford scored twice in Leeds' 2-2 draw at Shelbourne on Tuesday.

Manager Simon Grayson told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "He took his chances well and could have had three or four goals.

"On the attacking front we're looking very lively at the moment.

"Some of our play and our passing in the first half was really incisive and that's only our second game. I'm looking forward to building that up as the games go along."

Beckford played the first half of the match in Dublin during which fellow striker Enoch Showunmi limped off with tightness in his hamstrings. Goalkeeper Alan Martin failed to start the game because of back spasms.

Meanwhile, Leeds' home game against Norwich City will now take place on Monday, 19 October (kick-off 1945 BST) after being selected for live television coverage.

The game was originally due to be played on Saturday, 17 October.
