Leeds will not make Freedman bid
Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has said that they will not bid for Crystal Palace striker Dougie Freedman.
The 35-year-old had a successful loan spell at Elland Road last season, scoring six goals in 14 appearances, and is available for transfer.
But Bates told the Leeds United official website: "Dougie did a good job for us last season, there is no doubt about that.
"We have to look forward not back. Our future is in youth," he added.
"He's 35, is an East London boy, he's got four kids, is happily married and he's obviously not going to move his family up here for what would be only a one-or-two year contract.
"It would not be fair to ask him to live in a hotel for 12 months," he added.
The chairman also insisted that the mood in the camp was good despite Saturday's defeat to Oldham at Elland Road.
"It was a disappointing result but the players were quite honest about it and admitted they were bad but were going to put it right.
"There was a determined attitude among the players. They were very upbeat."
