Sheehan makes Elland Road switch

Alan Sheehan

Leeds United have announced they have signed Leicester City defender Alan Sheehan on a three-year deal.

The 21-year-old left-back made 10 appearances for Leeds while on loan at Elland Road last season.

As he is under 24, the two clubs will have to agree a transfer fee for Sheehan, who was out of contract.

"I'm pleased, when we first brought him in he struggled a bit but he was the first to admit that," manager Gary McAllister told the club's website.

"The jump from reserve team to first team may have been a bit too much but he worked very hard, came back and did ever so well."

"One of the things that struck me was how hard he was prepared to work, he was determined to win a contract here and I was impressed by his attitude."

"We know Alan is going to be here and with Ben Parker back with us, hopefully he will be pushing him on the left"

McAllister said that Sheehan's arrival on a permanent deal would give him options in both full-back positions for the new season.

"We know Alan is going to be here and with Ben Parker back with us, hopefully he will be pushing him on the left."

"On the right we've got Frazer Richardson and we're looking to Scott Gardner to push him, so there's a nice balance on both sides."

The clubs are discussing a transfer fee but should they be unable to agree then it will be determined by a tribunal.
