Killie players fume at club fines

Kilmarnock players are unhappy with a system of fines introduced by the club and are seeking union backing to fight their cause, BBC Scotland has learned.

Under the new guidelines, players will be penalised £500 if red carded and fined £1000 for a second offence.

"The players accept that there is a fines system at every club," manager Jim Jefferies told BBC Scotland.

"But I think there are other things that have been added on that they are not happy about."

Staff at the cash-strapped club have taken wage cuts in recent years and the new penalties have not been brought in at the behest of Jefferies.

"It's the players' prerogative to talk to the union," added the manager. "We'll have to wait and see what the union come back with."
