Jefferies upbeat over SPL future

Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies

Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies is optimistic his side can challenge next season after ending the campaign with victory over Falkirk.

"It was a good performance. We had to go and put a show on and I thought we did that today," the Rugby Park boss told BBC Sport.

"If we had a goalscorer, we would have won that by five or six.

"If we can stay injury-free and add a few faces, we'll be up there challenging next term."

Paul Di Giacomo came off the bench to score his second goal in as many games, but the forward's future at the Ayrshire club is unclear.

"Paul's not had the best of seasons," said Jefferies. "He went out on loan and failed to command a place at Partick Thistle.

"I gave him another chance to come in and he started all right for a couple of games.

"I think he got his head down and lost his motivation for things - maybe he was thinking about something outwith football.

"At the end of the season, we've brought him back into it and he's come off the bench and got a couple of goals, so we'll be having a decision and a discussion with him.

"There's one or two other players in that position. To allow players to come in, we've got to make spaces."
