Rhodes hits a brace on his return
Teenage striker Jordan Rhodes got both goals in Ipswich Town's reserves beat Southend 2-0 at home on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old, who has just returned from a loan spell at Rochdale, struck just before half time and then from the penalty spot in the second half.
Defender Pim Balkestein played 45 minutes on his return from a groin injury and showed no adverse reaction.
The Dutchman will now come into contention for Saturday's Championship game at home to Swansea City.
