Hull poised to seal Kilbane move

Kevin Kilbane

Hull City are close to finalising Kevin Kilbane's transfer from Wigan.

The Republic of Ireland international, who will be 32 next month, has started just three league games for the Latics this season.

"Kevin has accepted personal terms and passed his medical," Hull boss Phil Brown told BBC Radio 5 Live. "I hope he will be at training on Thursday."

Hull have also agreed a fee with West Ham United for their 31-year-old former Portugal international Luis Boa Morte.

After a bright start to their debut season in the Premier League, which included victory at Arsenal, Hull are currently on a run of just one win in 12 league games.

And with his side currently eighth in the table, and just seven points above the relegation zone, Brown is keen to strengthen his squad during the transfer window to ensure they consolidate their place in the top flight.

Will Boa Morte and Kilbane succeed at Hull?

"We are still looking to strengthen and we will have one or possibly two announcements by the end of the week," Brown added.

Boa Morte has struggled to hold down a regular first team place at West Ham since his £5m move from Fulham in 2007 and has managed just one goal in 66 appearances at Upton Park.

Both Boa Morte and Kilbane would offer Brown more options on the left side of midfield, with Peter Halmosi the club's only-recognised left-footed midfielder.
