Zayatte wants permanent Hull move

Kamil Zayatte

Hull City defender Kamil Zayatte says he wants to sign for the Tigers on a permanent basis when the transfer window opens up again in January.

The Guinea international is currently on loan from Swiss side Young Boys of Berne - and a £2.5m permanent move has been agreed in principle by the clubs.

Zayatte, 23, told BBC Radio Humberside: "I'm hoping to stay and I'm hoping the two clubs will come to an agreement.

"Everyone has welcomed me and my boyhood dream has come true."

If the transfer does go ahead, it will equal the club record fee paid to Tottenham earlier this season for Anthony Gardner - the player who, ironically, Zayatte has kept out of the side since his arrival at the KC Stadium.

Both Everton and Newcastle United were eyeing up a move for Zayatte before he signed for Hull and the centre-back now admits he is glad that they did not come in for him.

"It was a possibility but I don't regret my choice now because I am quite happy in Hull," he said.

"Can't wait until he signs permanently, keep everybody else off him... "

Zayatte has made a dream start to his career in the Premier League, and scored his first goal for the club in the 3-0 win at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

And he is revelling in his partnership with Michael Turner at the heart of the Hull defence, even though he speaks very little English.

"He is a brilliant player and we work well together together and we find a way to communicate during games," he added.
