King completes loan move to Hull

Marlon King

Premier League newcomers Hull have signed Wigan striker Marlon King on a season-long loan arrangement.

The two clubs had agreed an undisclosed fee for the 28-year-old but the deal could not be completed.

The Jamaica international completed a medical with the club on Wednesday and is likely to be unveiled on Thursday.

He is Hull's eighth new signing ahead of the season, with Tottenham defender Anthony Gardner, who had been on loan, sealing a permanent move to the Tigers.

Gardner and King will bring much-needed experience to the Hull side.

But King will not be able to face the Latics in either game this season, in accordance with Premier League rules regarding loan deals.

The former Barnet, Gillingham and Nottingham Forest forward joined Wigan for £5m from Watford shortly before the close of the January transfer market.

He featured in 15 league games for the north west club, scoring one goal.

Wigan boss Steve Bruce said: "We wish Marlon all the best. He is a good pro and he made a contribution last season.

"He has worked hard in pre-season and has made an impact but he has chosen to move on for the time being."

Brown has had a busy summer in the transfer market at they prepare for their first season in the top flight.

Peter Halmosi, George Boateng, Tony Warner, Bernard Mendy, Geovanni and Craig Fagan have already arrived at the club.
