Former England international Anthony Gardner intends to kick-start his career after joining Hull City on loan.
The 27-year-old Spurs defender will be at the KC Stadium initially until the January transfer window opens.
He told BBC Radio Humberside: "It's about the opportunity to play games and so I'm hoping to come here and get the opportunity to play regularly.
"You have knockbacks in your career but at the minute I'm looking to get my career back on track and going again."
Gardner's performances saw him win an England cap in March 2004 against Sweden but he fell down the pecking order at White Hart Lane and was sent out on loan to Everton last January.
He failed to make an impact on Merseyside and did not appear in the Toffees first team.
"It's an exciting time for me to come here and give it a shot at playing in the Premier League for Hull"However, he says that was because of persistent injury problem and he believes he is fitter now.
He added: "When you're playing regularly your body gets stronger. I played my best football when I was playing regularly and being picked regularly and showing what I could do - that's when the opportunity to represent my country came about."
Since his international debut Gardner has found it difficult to establish himself as a first-team regular at the North London Premier League giants. He accepts it was going to be tough for him to break into the first team reckoning there.
"Being at a big club, it's sometimes difficult to cement a place [in the team] when you've got a lot of internationals around you. It's exciting times for everyone who follows Hull City. It's an exciting time for me to come here and give it a shot at playing in the Premier League for Hull."
