We are judged on results - Wilson

Hartlepool United manager Danny Wilson believes his side has been forced to sacrifice their footballing principles to achieve results in League One.

Pools have begun the season with two wins from five and Wilson conceded his side have had to tailor their style to the nature of the division.

"I thought last year we played well and didn't win games," he told BBC Tees.

"We've had an end product in some games so far and well as you play, you've got to make sure you win games."

Meanwhile Wilson has refused to rule out bringing in loan signings to the club, but is adamant he will not swell his squad for the sake of numbers.

"You've seen how much the squad has been stretched when we've had a few injuries so we have to be active in that respect and understand what's available to us in case the situation happens again," he said.

"We're not going to bring people in if they're not going to play, we don't want people sat on the bench.

"It's really down to how well we can keep our team together, or whether we have people unavailable through injuries or suspensions and that is what will dictate what we'll be doing."
