Pools sign ex-Man Utd man Jones

Hartlepool United have signed former Manchester United midfielder Ritchie Jones on a free transfer.

Jones, 21, had been at Old Trafford as a schoolboy and came through the ranks and was a regular in the reserves.

Pools have completed their second signing of the summer after Jones was released by the Old Trafford club at the end of the last campaign.

Jones has had loan spells at Colchester, Barnsley and also spent some time with Yeovil Town last season.

Hartlepool boss Danny Wilson told the club website: "We first made enquiries last season about Ritchie but he was not available at the time so we monitored the situation for quite a while and it has now paid off."
