Rams focused on recruiting talent

Paul Jewell

Derby County boss Paul Jewell says the club's new academy director Phil Cannon will be focusing on recruiting talent.

Cannon joined Derby from Everton, where he was head of recruitment, after Kevin Thelwell left the Rams for Wolves.

Jewell told BBC Radio Derby: "We have got a magnificent facility here and maybe the recruitment has not been what it should have been.

"We have got to know which kids are in our area and which kids are going to be released by top clubs home and abroad."
