Derby boss turns on critical fans

Derby manager Billy Davies Derby boss Billy Davies has criticised some of the club's fans after the team were booed off at half-time when trailing 1-0 to Ipswich on Wednesday.

Derby came back to win the match 2-1 but Davies said he was "disappointed" by the supporters' half-time reaction.

"To come in at half-time and receive that type of treatment, I think one or two need a really good look at themselves," said Davies.

"I think we need a reality check at Pride Park."

"People need to realise that we are developing as a group of players"

Davies, who took charge of Derby in the summer, added: "We need to remember the situation that was here when I came in.

"We had one recognised striker (Paul Peschisolido), a club that has gone six out of the last seven years fighting relegation, a team that's been on its knees with (lack of) confidence.

Davies said it had been "unnecessary" for the supporters to boo the players.

"We're one point from the top but I think one or two think we're one point from bottom the way that some of the reaction is.

"Of course it's not the finished article, of course we have got to do better, of course there is much quality to get but it will take time. It will certainly take years rather than months.

"I think people need to realise that we are developing as a group of players, we are developing as a squad.

"These guys are working ever so hard to try and do the best we can."
