Blundell key to Quakers - Penney

Gregg Blundell

Darlington manager Dave Penney has backed striker Gregg Blundell to continue his run of late goals in Saturday's trip to Wycombe.

Blundell has scored last-minute goals against Watford and Luton this season and Penney hopes he can continue that streak in the Chilterns.

"He's been on a few times and makes a difference when he comes on as a sub," he told BBC Tees.

"He closes games and he's a threat when teams get tired with his pace."

Blundell, 32, played under Penney at his former club Doncaster Rovers before joining Darlington in January 2007 on a free transfer.

Meanwhile the Quakers welcome back Liechtenstein winger Franz Burgmeier after his involvement in their World Cup qualifier with Wales in Cardiff last weekend.

But having seen his side win away at Luton on the Saturday, Penney has refused to confirm that the 27-year-old will start the match.

"We'll assess how Franz is and he looks OK," he said.

"We'll get down to Wycombe and pick the side when we get down there.

"Everyone is looking fit and we're raring to go."
