Daggers are going places - Uddin

Dagenham & Redbridge captain Anwar Uddin has said he is proud at how far they have progressed.

The defender, 27, joined the club when they were a mid-table Conference side in 2004 and has been an ever-present in their rise to Football League status.

Uddin said: "When I first came to the club the squad was bare, we had kids of 16-years-old - now we've got players who can play League Two or League One.

"That's how far we've come and it's a great feeling," he told BBC Essex.

In their second season in League Two, the Daggers are 10th in the table, but only a few points off a place-off spot.

But now attention focuses towards Saturday's FA Cup second-round encounter with Leicester City.

Uddin believes the fact they are going there confident of getting a positive result is a testament to the club's growing confidence.

"We've got this genuine belief that we can beat anyone," he stated.

"To play at a place like Leicester is just tremendous to be involved in and it's going to be a proud day for us.

"But we're not going to go there to make up the numbers, we're going to look to go there and do something."
