Crystal Palace boss Taylor sacked
Championship side Crystal Palace have sacked manager Peter Taylor after just 16 months in charge at Selhurst Park.
A brief statement on the club website announced that his contract had been terminated with immediate effect.
Palace, who lie 19th in the table after taking just 10 points from their first 10 games, have only won one of their last 10 league and cup outings.
The south London club are being linked with Neil Warnock, who guided Sheffield United into the Premier League.
Warnock is a free agent after leaving Bramall Lane following United's relegation at the end of last season.

"
It's a shame, but he certainly didn't live up to the standard expected by Simon Jordan

As recently as June, Eagles chairman Simon Jordan had insisted to BBC Sport that he was happy with Taylor - and had made the right decision to keep faith with him, despite a poor run of results last season.
A former England international, Taylor, 54, also managed Hull, Southend, Dover Athletic, Gillingham, Leicester and Brighton.
Since 2004, he had also combined club management with his role as England Under-21 boss, until relinquishing the job in January 2007 to concentrate on his position with Palace.
Taylor also had a one-match spell as caretaker manager of the full England team in November 2000.
That match, a 1-0 defeat by Italy, was the first occasion midfielder David Beckham was handed the captain's armband.
