Thornton sees red for Sky Blues

Kevin Thornton Kevin Thornton was sent off as Coventry City drew 1-1 with Portland Timbers in the first game of their tour of the United States of America.

The young midfielder was one of six half-time substitutes, but saw red in the dying minutes for an alleged stamp.

New signing Jay Tabb had given City an eighth-minute lead in Oregon.

Hugo Cuellar levelled with a second-half penalty after the luckless Thornton had handled - and Portland won the penalty shoot-out 4-3.
