Iwelumo still wants Scotland call

Chris Iwelumo (right) with Jamie Cureton Colchester striker Chris Iwelumo has made another plea for a call-up from Scotland manager Walter Smith.

The 28-year-old admitted in September that he "didn't know whether Walter Smith knows where Layer Road is, or even knows that I'm Scottish".

But having scored four goals in Tuesday's 5-1 win over Hull, he told BBC Essex: "Hopefully if I keep performing, the door will open.

"It'd be nice to get noticed but they have some good players in my position."

Iwelumo's four-goal haul - the first by a Colchester player since Roy McDonough in August 1991 - took his total to nine goals this season.
