Spireite Niven faces chemotherapy
Chesterfield midfielder Derek Niven is to undergo one session of chemotherapy as part of testicular cancer treatment.
In November the 24-year-old had surgery to remove a tumour.
He will take part in light training before the session, which the club says is "purely precautionary", and aims to make a full training return next year.
"Everyone's looking forward to having him back in action with every hope this chapter can be put well and truly behind him," said boss Lee Richardson.
The former Raith Rovers trainee joined the Spireites from Bolton in December 2003 and has made 199 league appearances for Chesterfield.

Niven can take heart from the fortunes of Geoff Horsfield.
The former Fulham, Birmingham and West Brom striker was also recently diagnosed with the disease, but following surgery he has been given a clean bill of health.
