Chester boss pleased with effort

Mark Wright

Chester City manager Mark Wright said he could not ask for any more from his players following Saturday's 0-0 draw with Bradford City.

And the Chester boss singled out teenage defender Glen Rule, for his latest in a string of good performances at the heart of a five-man defence.

"If I was to pick anyone out, I'd pick him," Wright told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"You don't see any thrills or spills. He heads it, he clears it, he talks and his reading of the game is very good."

Although praising his players for their work-rate as City claimed a third successive draw, Wright admits that time is running out for his side to save themselves.

But, despite not having won in 18 matches, he insists that he and the players are doing all they can.

"At times we looked attack-minded," he said. "And we did a lot of good things.

"I don't think we should be in this position but the reality is we are. We've got to keep battling and keep progressing from these sorts of performances.

"We've got six games left and we've got to see if we can win all six."
