Cheltenham teenager joins Arsenal

Arsenal

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Cheltenham Town youngster Jamie Edge.

Edge, 15, passed a medical at the Emirates Stadium after the two clubs agreed a compensation fee for the defender or midfield player.

Cheltenham's head of youth Ken Oram told the club's website: "We are delighted that Jamie has accepted the offer to join Arsenal.

"It is a fantastic opportunity for him. He fully deserves the chance to maximise the potential he has shown."

Edge, who joined Cheltenham at the age of nine, previously had trials with Manchester United before opting for a move to the Gunners.

He has been training with the Premier League club since Monday and will sign before the weekend.
