Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho claimed after the FA Cup final that he will have to move house as part of the fall-out from the row about his dog.
Mourinho's preparations for the final were disturbed when he was arrested in a row over his dog's quarantine status.
It was alleged the Yorkshire terrier was taken out of the country and returned without going into quarantine.
Mourinho has now said that because his house was shown on television during the saga, he will have to move.
And, speaking after his team beat Manchester United 1-0 to lift the Cup, he said: "The dog is fine in Portugal - that big threat is away - you don't have to worry about crime anymore."
That was a reference to Mourinho's wife Tami taking the terrier, called Leya, back to their home country.
That led to Mrs Mourinho missing the first final at the new Wembley Stadium - in which her husband's team triumphed.
Police had gone to Mourinho's London home to investigate claims the dog had been taken in and out of the country, breaking quarantine rules.
A row followed and Mourinho was arrested and cautioned.
On Friday Mrs Mourinho's solicitor Elizabeth Robinson said: "With the full knowledge and assistance of the UK animal health and welfare authorities, the Mourinho family pet, Leya, has returned to Portugal with Mrs Mourinho.
"Once again, the family would ask you to respect their family life, particularly that of Mrs Mourinho and her children.
"Mr Mourinho asks to be allowed to focus upon his task with Chelsea FC, without the repeated questions in relation to this matter, which has now concluded to the satisfaction of all parties."
The City of London Corporation, responsible for enforcing legislation regarding the importation of animals for the Greater London area, said: "Following the issuing of an Article 13 notice by the City of London Corporation, we can confirm that the animal in question left the UK from Heathrow in compliance with animal health laws.
"The City of London's investigations into the incident are continuing."
