Mourinho satisfied despite draw

Jose Mourinho Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insisted being held by Wycombe in the first leg of the Carling Cup semi-final was a good result for his patched up side.

"I am happy with the result and the effort, but not the performance," Mourinho said after the 1-1 draw.

"But I cannot criticise Michael Essien and Paulo Ferreira for the goal. For people who never play at centre-back, I thought they did very well.

"We still have to play at Stamford Bridge so we are in a good position."

Wycombe manager Paul Lambert was jubilant after his League Two side held the reigning Premiership champions.

"It is going to be 10 times harder in the second leg but we have kept the tie alive and anything is possible"

Lambert said: "We were absolutely brilliant to come back against a world class side.

"Their goal took a bit of stuffing out of us but I thought we were excellent in the second half.

"It is going to be 10 times harder in the second leg but we have kept the tie alive and anything is possible.

"I thought our win at Charlton earlier in the competition was exceptional but this exceeded it. I am as proud as anything of the players."

Wycombe's goalscorer Jermaine Easter added: "It is a great result to get the draw and it's evens now going to their place.

"To concede a goal as sloppy as the one we did was very disappointing because at first I think we were on top.

"Tommy Mooney has been fantastic for me all year and, like the one I got here, most of my goals have been from his flick-ons."
