Strachan laments poor finishing

Gordon Strachan Manager Gordon Strachan was left to rue a number of missed opportunities as Aberdeen dumped his Celtic side out of the Scottish Cup.

"We played in their half the whole game apart from a pass-back and a corner," he told BBC Sport after the 1-0 defeat.

"We made chances and got into good positions from out wide but we can't finish teams off just now.

"It's down to finishing. We made enough chances to win a couple of games but that's cup football for you."

The Celtic boss added that top-scorer Scott McDonald's failure to score in his last five matches is not a major cause for concern.

"Scott's had seven terrific months and shouldn't get frustrated when things don't go his way," said Strachan.

"We're supplying the players that get into forward positions with opportunities and that's all you can do."

Strachan was eager to take some positives from the match that leaves his side with the Scottish Premier League as their only chance of silverware this season.

"We'll show the players the game again and show them all the good things they've done," he said.

"Nakamura throughout was doing superb things again, and Aiden McGeady was a thorn down the right wing.

"We've no option but to pick ourselves up again, and we wish Aberdeen good luck in the semi-final."
